Amos was a prophet and sheepbreeder. He lived in Tekoa in Judah, near Jerusalem. The theme of his book is God’s justice and is particularly relevant for affluent societies in all generations.
Israel Has Not Returned to God

Prepare to Meet Your God | Kathy Page
No matter how God warned His people, through famine, blight, locusts, plagues or war – they still ignored Him. They didn’t get the message. (This all sounds so familiar today). Now, they would meet God face to face – in judgement. No longer would they ignore Him. This was a summons given to the children of Israel, “Prepare to meet your God.” Spurgeon says, “Like a boxer preparing long and hard before stepping into the ring with a champion, so we must be prepared to step into the ring with God.” Were they prepared?
Are we prepared to step into the ring with God? One day, we too will stand before Him to give an account of what we have done with what He has given us (2 Cor. 5:10). God will NOT be judging us for sins. That would insult the Spirit of grace and the glory of the cross. The Blood of Jesus washed those sins away forever. We will never be judged for them again. This will be a judgment of evaluation. We need to prepare for that day. Do not let good things become hindrances to eternal things. How we live matters. How we spend our time matters. How we serve the Lord matters. He is watching. He is noticing, and one day, we will give an account. Let us live our lives from this day forward in the light of eternity. That we will hear those words from our Master, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
Father, I thank You that Your plans for me are perfect. Lord Jesus, I can never thank You enough for rescuing me from eternal death. Holy Spirit, I thank You for Your abiding, guiding presence. Search me and try me. See if there is any wicked way in me. Show me where I have neglected eternal things and lived for temporary things. Help me to live the kind of life that anticipates the Judgment Seat of Christ. I want all You have for me in this age, and in the age to come. Help me to fulfill Your intended purpose for my life. I surrender all to You, In Jesus’ Name.
