January 9 – Colossians 2:1-3

Welcome to 2019! This month, we are walking slowly through the book of Colossians. Paul wrote this letter to the church at Colossae, and Philemon which we’ll be reading in February,  when he was imprisoned in Rome. This book offers practical guidelines for Christian living as well as encouragement and warning. Join our study by reading today’s scripture below and journaling about it using SOAP (click on the “What’s SOAP?” link above to learn more). Below today’s scripture is an example SOAP from our team. Whether it’s your first time reading the Bible or you’ve been doing daily devotions for decades, God will use this One Thing to speak to you. We love hearing from you! Please use the comment section of our website to share your SOAP, thoughts or questions on the reading, or prayer requests. Join us as we build unity and community through God’s Word!

Colossians 2:1-3

I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Love & Encourage | Rebecca Hoyt

Colossians 2:2

Its amazing to me that Paul wrote to encourage and love all these churches, some he’s never been to, all while he’s in prison.

God wants me to love and encourage others; He loves me so I am able to love them. Even when I don’t feel like it or I’m in situations where I need encouraging myself.

Dear Father, thank You for giving us love and encouragement through the Bible and Your work through other people. Please help work through me by encouraging others; let me be a light to someone each day.
