May 17 – Isaiah
In April and May, we are reading through the book of the prophet Isaiah. Its major themes are judgment, comfort, and hope, applicable to Jerusalem then in the 8th century B.C. and to us now. Join our study by reading today’s scripture below and journaling about it using SOAP (click on the “What’s SOAP?” link above to learn more). Below today’s scripture is an example SOAP from our team. We love hearing from you! Please use the comment section of our website to share your SOAP, thoughts or questions on the reading, or prayer requests. God With Us | Becky Newman
Isaiah 54 speaks of a time of redemption and prosperity of God’s people under the New Covenant of peace. We’ve seen the rest of the story and know this New Covenant is Jesus. Through this time, the promise given to Abraham that his descendants would number as the stars will continue. The people will prosper in peace, in relationship to God, and so will their children.
As another school year wraps up in the next week, I find myself looking back in gratitude and at peace with all You did for us to ensure that my children are and will be “taught by the Lord”. You brought us through a season of failures and frustration at our previous school to guide us to a greener pasture, a school where You have aligned God-fearing teachers and staff to do Your work and will, growing our children in the knowledge of their Lord and Savior so they can grow in peace in relationship to You. I am so thankful for Your servant, Mrs. Burkett, and her investment in my daughter, who has blossomed in this greener pasture, maturing, finally reading, and growing in her personal relationship with You which I can hear in her prayers. You’re right, my peace is great, and my kids’ peace will be great too, being taught by You!
Lord, thank You for Cornerstone Christian School and guiding us there! I am also thankful for the peace You sprinkled into a shower over my family through this last year in the transition from worldly teaching to Godly teaching. You are the source of all wisdom and knowledge, not a textbook. Thank You for a teacher who loves and serves You and the work You are doing in my daughter!
