In April and May, we are reading through the book of the prophet Isaiah. Its major themes are judgment, comfort, and hope, applicable to Jerusalem then in the 8th century B.C. and to us now. Join our study by reading today’s scripture below and journaling about it using SOAP (click on the “What’s SOAP?” link above to learn more). Below today’s scripture is an example SOAP from our team. We love hearing from you! Please use the comment section of our website to share your SOAP, thoughts or questions on the reading, or prayer requests. Join us as we build unity and community through God’s Word!

Isaiah 29:13, 16
My Bible notes Israel’s hardness against receiving God’s message resulted from their lack of a true relationship with the Lord. Though they gave lip-service, their hearts were not right. The Lord Jesus applied this passage to the religious leaders of His day. In both cases, worship had ceased to have meaning and was merely the commandment of men.
It seems some of our churches today just want to put on a good show, that they are more concerned with being entertaining. I want to not just say I’m a follower of Christ but have it be from my heart, and really hold myself accountable to what it means to have Jesus in my heart.
Dear Father, with a lot of changes going on in my life right now, please let me cling to my word for the year TRUST. Let me come to You in prayer and trust You have everything under control.
