In April and May, we are reading through the book of the prophet Isaiah. Its major themes are judgment, comfort, and hope, applicable to Jerusalem then in the 8th century B.C. and to us now. Join our study by reading today’s scripture below and journaling about it using SOAP (click on the “What’s SOAP?” link above to learn more). Below today’s scripture is an example SOAP from our team. We love hearing from you! Please use the comment section of our website to share your SOAP, thoughts or questions on the reading, or prayer requests. Deliverance of Israel

The Good Gardener | Marianne Toovey
God is the gardener, carefully tending to His vineyard. There will still be briers and thorns to deal with, but it’ll be a fruitful vineyard He can be proud of.
I am a work in progress. I need constant care and supervision because I have the tendency to make stupid choices: anger, worry, doubt, pride – the list goes on. The bad things that crop up need to be dealt with quickly before it completely takes over and ruins me. But God’s up to the challenge and is working around the clock to ensure I’m the best me I can be. But I have to be willing to let Him do the work that needs to be done. I have to trust that He knows what He’s doing and is working in my best interest – a ridiculous notion considering who God is, but sometimes it’s difficult to let Him do what He does best.
Right here, right now I declare that I trust You and I want You to do the work You want to do in my life. Letting go isn’t easy and I’ll try to fight it, but I pray for the peace between us that You promised. Help me to be more trusting, to relinquish control, and to live in a peaceful relationship with You as a fruitful vineyard. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
