Revelation 19:1-10 – November 21
God, please give us a fresh revelation of Jesus Christ as we study the book of Revelation!
We’ll be studying Revelation through the end of November and starting an Advent study for the whole family on December 1. Please feel free to read and journal with us as often as you can, with the goal of getting to daily time at the feet of Jesus.
You can read the NIV version of today’s reading below or your favorite Bible version then spend some time meditating and journaling on the reading, letting God speak to you through it. We encourage use of the SOAP method of Bible study. Check out the What’s SOAP tab above for more info. Also, below today’s reading is a SOAP journal entry from our team to help dive into God’s Word. And we encourage you to share your SOAP journal entry, prayer requests, or questions in the Comments section on our website.
The Discover One Thing main website continues to follow the Life Journal Reading Plan which covers the whole Bible in one year. Click HERE to check out today’s Discover One Thing post.
Revelation 19:1-10 – Threefold Hallelujah Over Babylon’s Fall
After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting:
Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
2 for true and just are his judgments.
He has condemned the great prostitute
who corrupted the earth by her adulteries.
He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”
3 And again they shouted:
The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.”
4 The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried:
5 Then a voice came from the throne, saying:
“Praise our God,
all you his servants,
you who fear him,
both great and small!”
6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
7 Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
8 Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear.”
(Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)
9 Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”
10 At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For it is the Spirit of prophecy who bears testimony to Jesus.”
Praise the Lord | Rebecca Hoyt
The word “Hallelujah!” is in these ten verses four times, so God is telling us this is really important! I Looked up the word Hallelujah. Wikipedia said – an exhortation of “praise” addressed to several people. Others are- “Praise (ye), “The Lord” , “Praise God” , “Praise our God”, or “thanks to our God” and it brought my verses up in Revelation.
There is a party going on in heaven!! Evil is being stomped out, and goodness is winning ( Hallelujah praise The Lord), and there is shouting and rejoicing in heaven. V5 “Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him both small and great!”
Thank You, dear Lord, for uplifting me today, for shouting Your praises, for judging the evil, for singing and dancing for You (what I picture also is going on at the party). Thank You even after a rough morning (math homework before school is never a good idea) I can praise You and thank You. Amen!
